New Albany, Indiana headquartered Samtec is a $600+ million global manufacturer of electronic interconnect solution blocks. The privately held firm was founded in 1976 and produces a very broad line of interconnect solutions, including IC-to-Board/Ultra Micro, High Speed Board-to-Board, High Speed Cables, Future-Proof/Active Optics, Flexible Stacking, and Micro/Rugged components and cables.

To meet the interconnect challenges of tomorrow and beyond, Samtec has developed unique Technology Centers to help optimize the entire signal transmission path… from the IC to the panel and beyond, and all points in between.
When it became clear some months ago that their PCB cleaning capabilities needed to be expanded, Samtec’s project team analyzed several alternatives, including two from Speedline Technologies presented by The Murray Percival Company.
Operations Manager Russ Payton explained. “From a top-down perspective, we needed to identify a cleaning system that could meet our configurable design for in-line aqueous cleaning from nozzle selections in the pre-wash, wash, rinse as well as a system that could provide ultimate drying for our products and a batch cleaning system that could clean our unique products offerings that require no clean technology which were our two key objectives. Specifically, the Aquastorm 100 configurable footprint with the hurricane jet spray nozzles met our low standoff component concerns and also the drying capacities with the air knife combined with Torrid Zone met our drying needs that could cover our own changing product requirements over the coming five years.”
“Murray Percival Co. presented us the Aquastorm offerings, and we found their “Torrid Zone” option enables boards to exit virtually bone dry, quickly and efficiently supporting our flexible, nonstop manufacturing schedule,” Payton added. “The Aquastorm 50 is well suited to our low volume applications where chemistry is needed, and the Aquastorm 100 has been deployed for our standard cleaning of water soluble paste and flux.”
