We’re pleased to see that IPC and SMTA are again partnering to co-host another technical event. We also think that it’s more than coincidence that this started happening with the new management at IPC. Too many (and often conflicting) events in the past have stressed more than a few schedules and travel budgets. Kudos to both organizations for putting the interests of their members and the industry ahead of their own.
November’s High-Reliability Cleaning and Conformal Coating Conference is scheduled to cover developments in all areas of cleaning and coating applied to electronics assemblies.
The event will include a technical conference, two half-day tutorials, networking activities and tabletop exhibits. Tutorials will provide practical information on materials, equipment and methodologies at the basic-to-intermediate levels. The technical conference will feature advanced-level presentations from subject-matter experts, emphasizing case studies of real-world problems along with solutions.
Among those presentations is one based on a joint DOE between Speedline Electrovert and Zestron presented by 25 year veteran Jody Saultz, titled “Reinventing the Wheel in Fluid Dynamics.” Greg Calvo, Product Manager for Speedline’s Electrovert systems, commented on the presentation and its theme.
“In recent years, several new technologies have been released in an effort to address the challenges of cleaning high reliability board assemblies. Along with chemical and thermal energies, the mechanical energies delivered through spray technologies are equally critical to the entire cleaning process. Most board assemblers strive to optimize their cleaning process to provide the best cleaning performance over a broad range of board assemblies. This paper presents the results from a designed experiment on fluid dynamics across multiple types of spray technologies and the overall impact to cleaning performance and process flexibility.”
